'After much frustration and agitation, i have created my first frame for the third time in OpenToonz. It has a lot of potential as a widely used software but there are so many missing features. Using it in terms of simply drawing and colouring without animating is a breeze but actually animating is a chore, especially with a huge lack of a guide and no way to experiment without it saying it needs to be restarted. That being said, I pushed through and although i lost half my animation cos im quite the dope, hears the very first thing that you'll see when the camera fades in.'
The above was the first thing I wrote about Toonz and it should be expanded upon. Lets get one thing straight. I like Toonz. Its easy(ish) to use when you know your way around animating software in general. BUT it has some minor and major flaws. The following are, in my opinion, the most prominent.
The copy and paste functions do not work. I dont know if this is just for me but literally nothing happens when I put them to use. End of.
The lines get thicker out of nowhere whilst drawing for some unknown reason.
The save function is just, assinine (at best). So, Toonz develoers, here's a baffling idea, rather than have to save levels and scenes seperately, maybe, sorry if this is just a silly idea but, add a save all or save everything feature? (Just a thought.)
It crashes at the worst of times. This issue is prominent in a lot of other softwares, most prominently flash, so it isn' t as big an issue, just treat it the same.
Overall it is a good software. I would list what I like but seeing as this is my fourth time writing this out for one reason or another, I think its flaws are what need to be focused on more than what's already okay as, well, what's already okay, doesn't require any improvement.
